ALEXI Regional Fluxes
for the Continental United States

The ALEXI model is run daily over the Continental United States at a horizontal resolution of 10km; output flux predictions for the previous day are typically available by 07 UTC.

Input data fields of temperature, pressure, and atmospheric moisture are generated through analyses of hourly weather data (i.e. the METARs), and the CIMSS Regional Assimilation System (CRAS) forecast model. Fractional vegetation cover is estimated from the USGS EROS AVHRR 1km bi-weekly NDVI product. All radiometric data (longwave, shortwave and thermal) are from the GOES-08 and GOES-10 Sounder instruments. Cloud detection fields are produced by the NOAA Advanced Products Team within CIMSS at UW-Madison.

Funding for this work was made possible through grants from NASA and NOAA.
