Site 1:

Site 1 represents the central i-level, i.e., the pedon scale. This site is located on the Arlington Agricultural Research Station (AARS), University of Wisconsin-Madison. Land use was a corn (Zea Mays) - alfalfa (Medicago sativa) rotation. The pedon was described using a field morphological classification (Schoeneberger et al., 1998) and was mapped as fine-silty, mixed, mesic Typic Argiaquolls. Its location is within a depression area. Upslope soils were mapped as fine-silty, mixed, mesic Typic Argiudolls. Elevation of pedon, site 1 was 269 m above sea level.
