Extension and Research Overview
Research and extension mission statement: Nutrient management – Sustaining agricultural production and environmental quality. My specific research includes projects, which elucidate the biogeochemistry, transport, and subsequent best management practices for phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium fertilizers and animal manures. Extension activities include the development and delivery of decision making tools to assist producers, ag professionals, and regulatory agencies in making decisions that help sustain economically and environmentally sound production of field, forage, and potato crops in Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest.

Phosphorus availability as affected by manure and soil intereactions.
- Nitrogen availability from raw and treated manures.
- Soil K dynamics and fertilizer requirement for corn and soybean.
- N response in corn as related to application timing and hybrid.
- Evaluation of N source and timing for grass pastures.
- Understanding plant availability of Mn in glyphosate resistant soybean systems.
- Understanding P availability to potato.
- Assessment of P leaching in irrigated sandy soils.
